In the last weekend (23), Centro Norte Baiano welcomed the Health Shed. The action from the Education for Health Program developed by Atlantic is held in the municipalities of Campo Formoso (BA), Lagoa do Barro do Piaui (PI) and Queimada Nova (PI). It counts on the collaboration of local governments, aiming to contemplate the health demands of said communities.
The edition took place at the main fair of Campo Formoso and assisted residents living in the city and near Morrinhos Wind Complex. Healthcare professionals have done glucose and blood pressure tests. The program engaged 97 participants and had as its main theme the Movember campaign, regarding prostate cancer awareness, besides an educational exhibition on food products and sugar content.
A local resident, Bertolina Lopes who is 63 years old, appreciated the initiative and stated: “I’m sure that lots of men will leave here aware of the importance of going to a doctor. It’s important to take care of ourselves, us, women, always do, but men don’t. You did something great, in addition to providing information about prostate cancer, we got free gifts and a free haircut. ”
The project was part of Plano de Compromisso do Empreendimento (PCE) [Enterprise Commitment Plan] which defines complementary actions in the areas of health, education, culture, entertainment and other productive activities. The Health Shed CEMO was inspired in the event’s first edition which happened in Queimada Nova, Piauí, in September 2017, and is always well received by the population.
